SUMMARY:Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:You can join in Bible Study via Zoom. \nGo to www.sjuhcrichmond.org and scroll down and select the yellow “Watch” button and then select the “Zoom link for services” button to join bible study or any service. \n \nLESSONS FROM PROVERBS \n  \nProverbs 9:10 \nThe fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom\, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. \n  \n\nWisdom starts with the fear of the Lord – not with experience\, not with intelligence\, not with education.\n\n  \n\nWisdom starts with recognizing who God is and who you are in relation to Him.\n\n  \n\nWisdom reverences the Holy\, Powerful\, Sovereign God\, and knowing that your life is safest when surrendered to Him.\n\n  \n\nSeek His voice first.  Then everything will change.\n\nWith wisdom we walk in an unexplained clarity.   \n  \n\nWithout the fear of the Lord\, wisdom is just clever thinking.\n\n  \n\nTo thrive spiritually\, build up the fear of the Lord.\n\n  \n\nWisdom keeps us anchored to something that cannot change.\n\n  \nProverbs 4:23 \nAbove all else\, guard your heart\, for everything you do flows from it. \n  \n\nThe heart is the command center of your life – everything flows from the heart.\n\n  \n\nThe heart is where your motives are formed\, desires are shaped\, and decisions are born.\n\n  \n\nSo be careful about what you let into your heart.\n\nBe careful about the people you spend time with.  \nBe careful about the content you consume. \nBe careful about the thoughts you entertain. \nBe careful about the bitterness\, the hatred\, the unforgiveness you hold. \n  \n\nAll these things shape your heart and your heart shapes your life.\n\n  \n\nBe vigilant.  Don’t give access to anything that pulls you away from God.\n\n  \n\nWhen your heart is aligned with God\, your life will follow.\n\n  \n\nGuard your heart fearfully. Be careful what occupies your mind.\n\n  \n\nSeek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness…\n\n  \nProverbs 16:18 \nPride goes before destruction\, a haughty spirit before a fall. \n\n Pride blinds\, isolates\, makes you think you don’t need God or accountability.\n\n  \n\nPride whispers lies that say you don’t need advice\, and that you are smarter than everyone\, and that you are grown.\n\n  \n\nHumility says “I need help”\, “Show me”\, Teach me”.\n\n  \n\nHumility keeps you connected to God\, keeps you hungry.\n\n  \n\nHumility keeps you from becoming untouchable.\n\n  \n\nPride hurts you and the people around you.\n\n  \nProverbs 15:1 \nA gentle answer turns away wrath\, but a harsh word stirs up anger. \n\nHow you respond to conflict determines its escalation or resolve.  How you react matters.\n\n  \n\nA gentle answer does not mean you’re weak\, it means you’re wise.\n\n  \n\nDon’t let some else’s chaos dictate your response.\n\n  \n\nLearn to remain calm and kind.  This forces the other party to reconsider their approach\, and it makes space for de-escalation. \n\n  \n\nChoose your battles.  Choose your tone. Choose peace over making a point.\n\n  \n\nGentleness disarms people and catches them off guard\n\n  \nProverbs 13:20 \nWalk with the wise and become wise\, for a companion of fools suffers harm. \n\n You become like the people you surround yourself with\n\n  \n\nShow caution about who has access to you.\n\n  \n\nGuard what God has put in you.  It’s precious!\n\n  \n\nAsk the Holy Spirit for direction.\n\n  \n\nThe people you walk with will determine where you end up.\n\n  \n\nTake a moment to notice the five (5) people you spend the most time with.                                                   How are you like them?\n\nThe Phrase “Tell me who your friends are\, and I will tell you who you are” suggests that a person’s character and values can be reflected in the company they keep.  This emphasizes that an individual’s social circle influences his behavior. \n  \nProverbs 3:5-6 \nTrust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him\, and he will make your paths straight. \n\nThis is the anchor and the heartbeat of Proverbs.\n\n  \n\nGod makes our paths straight – not easy\, not painless\, but aligned and purposeful and straight.\n\n  \n\nWe were never meant to figure life out on our own.\n\n  \n\nTrusting God will make you take steps when you can’t see the full staircase.\n\n  \n\nGod is faithful.  Trust Him.  Submit.  Surrender.\n\n  \n\nHis plans are better.  His way is straight.\n\n  \n\nThe fear of the Lord changes everything.\n\n  \n\nFind peace in trusting God.
